What Is Jute?

In short, jute is a long, soft and shiny fiber, it is produced from flowering plants of the genus Corchorus, which belongs to the Malvaceae family.

Jute, burlap and hessian originate from the same material and are all constructed from fibers found in the skin of the jute plant. In general, jute fibers are mainly composed of cellulose and lignin. Hessian and burlap are the terms used for a more rustic and coarse fabric, whereas jute is the most refined and high-quality version.
